G20 Compact with Africa - Promoting Potentials, Drawing Lessons, Facing Challenges

We cordially invite you to a joint discussion event in cooperation with the Deutsche Afrika Stiftung (DAS), the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, and the Rethinking Afrika Foundation (RTA). The event will be held under the patronage of Member of Parliament Dr Karamba Diaby on November 9, 2023, on November 9, 2023, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. On November 20th of this year, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz is hosting the first Compact with Africa summit under his leadership. The initiative, launched by Germany in 2017 through the G20 Finance Track, aims to improve the investment conditions in participating African countries and, ultimately, promote European investments in Africa. The track record is mixed. We will discuss the reasons for this, the status of the initiative, and how it can be designed to be more successful for all parties and geared towards sustainable economic growth with representatives from academia, business, and politics.
