The uncertainty that clouds the UK-EU negotiations is expected to be resolved in the next eight weeks. The terms of departure and of a future relationship remain delicate and complex, compounded by the ongoing contest within the United Kingdom to confirm a negotiation position. A growing number of British politicians are calling for a ‘people’s vote’ on the eventual deal, while the looming Brexit date of 29 March has forced more and more British and European companies to implement their adaptation plans.
However, the European Council on 19 October will be a pivotal moment. The EU has set this as a deadline for resolving the Irish border question, which is in turn a condition of scheduling an additional summit in mid-November to finalise the overall agreement.
On Monday, 22th October, United Europe will host a CEO Roundtable in Berlin to discuss the direct consequences of Brexit for Europe and its place in the world.
The event takes place in cooperation with the German British Society in the International Club of the Federal Foreign Office.
