We are seeking Young Leaders to join us for the upcoming United Europe Advocacy Seminar “2024 Was A Defining Election Year – What’s Next For Europe?” held in partnership with the Representation of the European Commission in Austria on April 30, 2025. Together, we will examine the impact of the 2024 super election year and explore what lies ahead for Europe.
The seminar will begin with a keynote address by Mag. Patrick Lobis, M.P.P., Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Austria. This will be followed by presentations on Geopolitics, Tariffs and Trade from Mag. Christian Mandl (Head of EU Policy Department) and Mag. Michael Saxl (Policy Advisor) from the WKO (Austrian Federal Economic Chamber). Professor Michael Landesmann, Scientific Director at the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies, will then explore Europe’s industrial policy in the evolving geo-political and geo-economic environment.
Iris Marlovitz, Head of Communication at the Enterprise Europe Network, will offer an insightful impulse on the European Network for SMEs. We will then welcome former Vice-Chancellor and current Chairman of GLOBSEC, Wilhelm Molterer, who will discuss how to finance competitiveness and defense.
After lunch, the participants will gain insights into Europe’s Sovereignty in the digital realm. Professor Volker Wittpahl will address global threats to the European economy, followed by Mats Kuuskemaa who will present Estonia’s successful tech start-up eco-system.
United Europe Board Member Barbara Tasch-Ronner will interview Danai-Magarita Budas, Deputy Director International Relations and Markets at the Austrian Federation of Industries (IV) on the occasion of the WTOs 30th anniversary and its ongoing crisis. The Seminar will conclude with a workshop led by Professor Paul Timmers and Georg Serentschy @WeltWert, focusing on the highly relevant topic of Eurostack – building a European alternative for technological sovereignty.
