Deputy Head of Asset Management at RAG-Stiftung – Germany
Christoph Gertenbach is Deputy Head of Asset Management at the RAG-Stiftung, one of Germany’s largest private foundations with about €17.5 billion in assets. The foundation finances the perpetual obligations of the former hard coal industry and supports projects in education, science and culture across the Ruhr and the Saar. At the RAG-Stiftung, Christoph works on asset-liability management and strategic asset allocation. He leads manager selection for infrastructure and private equity funds and contributes to due diligence on direct investments. Before joining in 2019, he held roles at an international investment consultancy, an asset manager and in banking. Christoph holds a Master’s in Finance from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and is a CFA Charterholder. He studied at Warwick Business School and Otto-Friedrich-University in Bamberg and is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. He is particularly interested in how Europe can strengthen its role in global finance, climate policy and technological innovation. He believes today’s challenges in areas such as AI, sustainability and capital market integration are best addressed through a strong and united Europe. Through the United Europe Mentoring Programme he aims to contribute his expertise, exchange ideas on Europe’s future and learn from experienced mentors.
