Gunther Krichbaum

Gunther Krichbaum is the spokesman for European policy in the German Bundestag.
In 1979, Gunther Krichbaum joined the Junge Union (youth wing of the Christian Democratic Union), the Wirtschaftsrat (economic council) and the Mittelstands- und Wirtschaftsunion (association of small and medium-sized enterprises). He joined the CDU in 1983 and was Chairman of the Pforzheim Nord/Ost CDU from 1998 to 2009. He has been Chairman of the Pforzheim/Enzkreis CDU since 2010.
Gunther Krichbaum is a member of the Atlantik-Brücke e.V.; member of the board of the Fondation Robert Schuman (Paris); member of the board of the European People’s Party (EPP); member of the board (co-opted) of the Europa-Union Deutschland; member of the advisory board of the Institute for European Politics (IEP) (Berlin) and of the Romanian Forum e.V..
Awarded the Grand Decoration of Honour in Gold for Services to the Republic of Austria in 2012; Commander of the Star of Romania (Steaua României) in 2010; Officer of the Legion of Honour, France (Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur) in 2009 and Grand Officer of the Order of Oranje-Nassau, Netherlands (Orde van Oranje-Nassau) in 2007.
