We are very pleased to invite you, in cooperation with the Austrian Embassy in Berlin and illwerke vkw, to the event “Hydropower for Germany’s Energy Security.”
DATE: Monday, 3 November 2025 | 6:00–7:30 p.m. (admission from 5:30 p.m.)
VENUE: Austrian Embassy Berlin, Stauffenbergstraße 1, 10785 Berlin
In times of upheaval, stability in energy supply is more important than ever. Hydropower—especially pumped storage power plants—makes an indispensable contribution to stabilizing the European interconnected grid.
With the Lünerseewerk II project, illwerke vkw is investing over €2.5 billion in what will become the largest hydropower plant in the German-speaking region—a milestone for the energy transition.
After welcoming remarks by H.E. Dr. Alexander Marschik, Austrian Ambassador to Germany, and Mag. Markus Wallner, Governor of Vorarlberg, you can look forward to keynote contributions from:
– Andreas Jung, Member of the Bundestag, Deputy Chairman of the CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group and of the CDU of Germany
– Christof Germann, CEO, illwerke vkw
– Peter Heydecker, COO Sustainable Generation Infrastructure, EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG
– Gerd Wegeler, Member of the Executive Board, illwerke vkw
Following the discussion, we invite you to conclude the evening with Austrian specialties in a convivial atmosphere.
Please register no later than 24 October 2025 via this link.
We look forward to your participation!
